Reports To: Principal

Purpose of Role:

The School Operations Coordinator drives student achievement in the SPARK Schools network by ensuring that the school operates smoothly, efficiently, and to a consistent standard of excellence. The School Operations Coordinator is integral to the SPARK Schools “culture” and our commitment to rigorous, engaging learning experiences for our scholars.

Responsibilities:

  1. Scholar Safety & Supervision
  • Oversee scholar arrivals and dismissals to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety procedures.
  • Implement and monitor safety protocols in all school spaces, including classrooms, playgrounds, and common areas.
  • Ensure compliance with child protection and safeguarding policies.
  1. Scholar Transitions & Space Management
  • Coordinate and oversee scholar movement across school spaces (e.g., transitions between classrooms, lunch, and extracurricular activities).
  • Ensure a structured and efficient process for maintaining order during transitions.
  • Support teachers and staff in managing structured transitions that minimise lost learning time.
  1. Asset & Facilities Management
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of school assets, including furniture, IT equipment, and learning materials.
  • Ensure school facilities are well-maintained and escalate maintenance concerns to relevant teams.
  • Oversee the proper use and upkeep of hardware in Learning Labs.
  1. Customer Relations & Parent Engagement
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents regarding operational matters.
  • Address parent concerns related to school logistics, safety, and aftercare.
  • Ensure a high standard of customer service by training and guiding front-office staff end-to-end from enrolment.
  1. Aftercare Program Oversight
  • Manage the aftercare program, ensuring scholar safety and engagement in structured activities.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and logistics to ensure a high-quality aftercare experience.
  • Monitor scholar participation and address any operational concerns.
  1. Procurement & Resource Management
  • Handle procurement of school supplies and ensure cost-effective spending.
  • Work with finance teams to track spending and align with the school's budget.
  • Ensure timely ordering and distribution of materials for both academic and operational needs.
  1. Management of School-Based Operations Team
  • Directly manage Supervisors during lunch and break and aftercare to ensure structured play and scholar safety
  • Provide professional development to enhance the operational team's effectiveness.
  1. Scholar Transportation Management

Qualifications and Criteria:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and criteria:

  • English language fluency
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Completed or in the final year of a 3 or 4 year degree with current proof of registration
  • First aid training (advantageous)
  • Experience in operations, administration, procurement, project management, or facilities management (advantageous)
  • Experience managing or working with primary school-aged children.
  • Preferred: Previous experience leading a team.

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and criteria:

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Completed or in the final year of a 3 or 4 year degree with current proof of registration
  • First aid training (advantageous) Experience
  • Required: Experience in operations, administration, procurement, project management, or facilities management.
  • Required: Experience and practice with labour laws.
  • Required: Experience managing or working with primary school-aged children.
  • Preferred: Previous experience leading a team.
