You will own the as-is analysis of the OSB estate (proxy and business services, pipelines, transformations, adapters), define how each service maps to its WSO2 MI target (APIs, proxy services, sequences, mediators, connectors), and set the API standards the migrated services must follow.
Vennote Technologies Limited is a technology company building robust, scalable digital solutions that power businesses. We specialize in Enterprise Applications, Managed Services, and Project Management, delivering technology solutions that help businesses run more efficiently and scale with confidence.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Summary:
- You will own the as-is analysis of the OSB estate (proxy and business services, pipelines, transformations, adapters), define how each service maps to its WSO2 MI target (APIs, proxy services, sequences, mediators, connectors), and set the API standards the migrated services must follow.
- You act as the functional bridge between telecom business owners, the OSB support team and the WSO2 build team.
- Hands-on OSB implementation experience is mandatory: you must be able to open a pipeline, explain what it does to the business, and specify its WSO2 MI equivalent.
Key Responsibilities: OSB estate analysis (as-is):
- Inventory and classify every OSB proxy/business service, pipeline, split-join, XQuery/XSLT transformation, adapter (DB, JMS, File, FTP, SOAP/REST) and OWSM policy in scope.
- Reverse-engineer undocumented services into functional specifications: purpose, consumers, providers, message flows, routing rules, error handling, SLAs and dependencies.
- Map each service to the telecom business process it serves (order management, provisioning, billing, CRM, product catalogue, partner/interconnect) and to its consuming BSS/OSS applications.
- Identify redundant, dead and duplicate services; recommend rationalisation and decommissioning.
OSB to WSO2 MI migration design (to-be):
- Define the target mapping for each OSB construct to WSO2 MI: proxy services and APIs, inbound endpoints, sequences, mediators (Payload Factory, Data Mapper, Filter, Switch, Call/Send), endpoints, connectors, message stores and fault sequences.
- Produce migration specifications and acceptance criteria per service or wave; flag functional gaps where OSB behaviour has no direct WSO2 MI equivalent and propose the solution.
- Define the migration wave plan with the architects: grouping by business domain, consumer impact and dependency.
- Specify cut-over, parallel-run and rollback requirements per wave.
API standardization:
- Define and govern API standards for the migrated layer: REST/OpenAPI design guidelines, naming and versioning, URI conventions, error model, security (OAuth2/JWT, mTLS), pagination and headers.
- Define the canonical/common data model and transformation rules; align with TM Forum Open APIs where applicable.
- Lead the conversion of legacy SOAP/WSDL contracts to standardized REST APIs where agreed; document API catalogue entries and consumer onboarding.
- Review API specifications produced by the WSO2 team for conformance to the standards.
Delivery and quality:
- Work with the OSB support team, WSO2 developers, testers and architects through the full migration SDLC.
- Define regression and equivalence test scenarios (same input, same output as OSB); support SIT/UAT and hands-on validation using SoapUI/Postman and log analysis.
- Support production cut-over, hypercare and post-go-live issue triage.
Stakeholder management:
- Act as the single functional point of contact between telecom business units, BSS/OSS application owners and the migration team.
- Report status, risks and dependencies to programme management; run change control on scope.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.
Certifications (preferred):
- Oracle SOA Suite / Service Bus certification
- WSO2 Certified Micro Integrator Developer (or Enterprise Integrator)
- CBAP / CCBA or PMI-PBA
- TM Forum certification (eTOM, SID or Open APIs)
- Agile certification (CSPO, PSM or SAFe)
Soft skills:
- Structured, analytical thinker who can decompose a legacy OSB estate into clear, migratable service specifications.
- Confident facilitator; comfortable challenging stakeholders and vendors on scope and design.
- Ownership mindset: follows a requirement from workshop to production.
- Works well in distributed, multi-vendor, multicultural teams.
Required experience and skills:
- Overall experience: 8+ years in IT integration, of which 5+ years hands-on with Oracle SOA Suite / Oracle Service Bus (11g/12c)
- OSB implementation: Extensive hands-on experience building and supporting OSB services: proxy/business services, pipelines, split-join, XQuery/XSLT, adapters (DB, JMS, File, FTP), fault handling, OWSM security policies, throttling and result caching
- OSB analysis: 3+ years analysing OSB estates: service inventory, reverse-engineering, impact analysis, service catalogue and dependency mapping, documenting services for migration or support
- WSO2 Micro Integrator: Working knowledge of WSO2 MI (or WSO2 EI/ESB) concepts: APIs, proxy services, inbound endpoints, sequences, mediators, endpoints, connectors, Data Mapper, message stores/processors, Synapse configuration, Integration Studio/VS Code extension; experience on an OSB-to-WSO2 migration strongly preferred
- API standardization: Proven experience defining REST/OpenAPI design standards, versioning, security (OAuth2/JWT, mTLS), error models and governance; SOAP-to-REST contract conversion; TM Forum Open APIs
- Integration standards: SOAP, REST, WSDL, XSD, JSON, XML, JMS, WS-Security; API-led and event-driven integration patterns
- Telecom domain: Extensive knowledge of mobile operator processes and systems: lead-to-cash, order management, provisioning/activation, charging and billing, CRM, product catalogue, number management, partner/interconnect; typical BSS/OSS landscapes
- Telecom standards: Working knowledge of TM Forum eTOM, SID and Open APIs
- Analysis toolkit: Functional specifications, BPMN/UML, requirements management (Jira, Confluence), SQL, SoapUI/Postman, log analysis for service validation
- Delivery methods: Agile/Scrum and waterfall delivery in large, multi-vendor migration programmes
- Communication: Explains integration behaviour to business stakeholders and business needs to engineers, in writing and in workshops; fluent English
Added advantage:
- Experience on the MTN account – prior delivery for MTN Group or any MTN operating company (OpCo), including familiarity with MTN's group integration standards, API guidelines, BSS/OSS landscape, vendor ecosystem and governance processes.
- Completed at least one OSB/SOA to WSO2 migration end to end, including service rationalisation and OSB decommissioning.
- Experience with WSO2 API Manager and publishing migrated services to an API gateway and developer portal.
- Exposure to microservices, containers (Docker/Kubernetes) and event streaming (Kafka, JMS) in a WSO2 context.
- Experience with Oracle BSS/OSS products (Siebel CRM, BRM, OSM, UIM) or equivalent telecom stacks (Amdocs, Ericsson, Netcracker).
- Experience with African or Middle East telecom operators and multi-country, multi-OpCo programmes.
