Legal Officer

We are seeking a qualified, experienced and committed Legal Officer to join its team in Enugu State. The successful candidate should have practical legal experience, strong courtroom skills and a genuine interest in human rights, access to justice and the protection of vulnerable people.

The Carmelite Prisoners’ Interest Organization (CAPIO) is a prominent faith-based, non-profit human rights organization dedicated to advocating for criminal justice reform and protecting the dignity of inmates in Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Description:

• We are seeking a qualified, experienced and committed Legal Officer to join its team in Enugu State.
• The successful candidate should have practical legal experience, strong courtroom skills and a genuine interest in human rights, access to justice and the protection of vulnerable people.

• 2–3 years post-call experience to the Nigerian Bar.
• Must be in active legal practice.
• Strong courtroom and trial experience.
• Good understanding of criminal justice procedures.
• Willingness to align with CAPIO’s vision and mission.
• Readiness to take on additional responsibilities in support of CAPIO programmes.
