About Thomas
At Thomas, we imagine a world of limitless human potential, where people thrive through self-awareness and authentic connection.
For over 45 years, we’ve been pioneers in talent assessment. But now, we’re transforming. We’re evolving from a trusted assessment provider into a disruptive AI-powered people science platform, uniting behavioural insight, data and technology to revolutionise how people and teams work together.
Our new Connection Intelligence (CXI) platform is redefining collaboration, helping organisations unlock intelligent team profiling, behaviour comparison and personalised growth at scale.
We’re shaping a new era of workplace intelligence.
Job Purpose
We’re looking for someone who enjoys fixing problems and making sure they stay fixed.
As our Helpdesk Engineer, you’ll be the first port of call for technical support across Thomas. You’ll keep our people, devices and tools working so everyone else can focus on their jobs. Reporting to the Head of Business Services, your work will cover day-to-day tickets, laptop set-ups, supplier issues, IT audits and the tools our global business relies on.
This is a hands-on role, and there’s plenty of room to improve how we work. If you spot a manual process that could be automated, or a knowledge article that’s missing, we want you to tell us and then help make the change.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting our people: Logging and resolving staff queries and issues promptly so that satisfaction stays high and the business runs smoothly.
- Seeing issues through: Working with external support providers on escalated issues while keeping internal oversight, so nothing falls through the gaps.
- Working with suppliers: Resolving issues with third-party suppliers and helping tool owners and administrators keep track of evaluations, certifications and renewals.
- Looking after our software and tools: Managing and maintaining company software, tools and services so they stay up to date, work properly and meet business needs.
- Keeping hardware running: Troubleshooting and managing laptops, meeting rooms and mobile phones.
- Joiners, movers and leavers: Setting up and removing access to systems and devices promptly, including issuing and collecting equipment.
- Championing our business tools: Helping colleagues across our global business adopt the tools we use and get more out of them.
- Supporting IT audits: Supporting internal and external IT audits and helping us stay aligned with relevant standards and regulations.
- Sharing knowledge: Writing and updating knowledge articles for new and updated software and hardware.
- Training colleagues: Teaching staff to troubleshoot and diagnose problems themselves, which builds IT confidence across Thomas.
- Improving how we work: Identifying ways to improve IT procedures, especially through automation.
- Contributing to projects: Supporting team projects and keeping their documentation accurate and up to date.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who:
- is confident with technology and has a working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
- can diagnose and resolve technical issues;
- communicates clearly and listens well, including when explaining technical problems to non-technical colleagues;
- adapts easily and stays calm under pressure when priorities compete; and
- is positive and proactive, embraces change and looks for better ways of doing things. It would be great if you also have:
- experience with Microsoft 365 administration, including Entra ID (Azure AD), Teams, SharePoint and Intune;
- a good understanding of networking technologies; and
- experience managing non-Microsoft tools such as Zoom, LastPass, Miro, the Atlassian toolset (Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management) and Claude. If you’ve used different tools to the ones we use, we still want to hear from you. What matters is how you approach problems and how quickly you learn.
Why this role?
You’ll get broad, hands-on experience across support, hardware, software, suppliers, audit and automation. You’ll also be doing it in a business that is transforming into an AI-powered people science platform, where good tools and well-supported people make a real difference.
