The Analytics Analyst is an entry-level role within our dynamic and rapidly expanding Analytics team, based in our Lagos office. It offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate or early-career professional to learn the business from the ground up and contribute directly to Union Maritime's continued growth.

Role summary

The Analytics Analyst will work closely with the wider team, supporting the analysis behind key commercial and strategic decisions. The role involves building and maintaining analytical and financial models, using AI tools to work faster and more accurately, and gaining hands-on exposure to the fast-paced world of international shipping and maritime investment.

Key responsibilities

Working under the guidance of senior team members, the Analytics Analyst will:

· Build and maintain financial and analytical models that support the evaluation of commercial opportunities, including:

· Vessel sales and purchases.

· Vessel financing and refinancing.

· Profit-sharing and commercial agreements.

· Investment in new maritime technologies.

· Use AI tools throughout the modelling process: to gather and structure data, draft and check formulas, test assumptions and scenarios, and summarise results, while validating every AI-generated output for accuracy.

· Collect, clean and analyse data from internal systems, market sources and industry databases.

· Help automate routine data preparation and reporting tasks, making use of AI-assisted and low-code tools.

· Prepare clear presentations and summaries of analysis for internal stakeholders and senior management.

· Maintain up-to-date records for market research and business intelligence, so the team has reliable data for decision-making.

· Support the review of term sheets and commercial documents by preparing the underlying analysis and summarising key terms.

· Assist with the coordination of commercial projects, tracking actions and deadlines to keep work on schedule.

· Work with colleagues across departments to gather information and keep projects aligned.

Requirements

Required qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.

· 2+ years of relevant experience

· Strong MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills, with the ability to analyse data and present it clearly.

· Practical experience of using AI tools (such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT or similar) for analysis, modelling or research, and a strong interest in developing these skills further.

· An understanding of the limitations of AI, with the judgement to check, verify and take ownership of AI-assisted work.

· Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret data and draw practical insights.

· Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

· A curious, can-do attitude and an eagerness to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

· Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

· Strong work ethic and respect for confidentiality, given the sensitive nature of the projects handled.

· An interest in shipping, commodities or financial markets.
