- Nigeria, Invited UNESCO Member States and Associate Members (see official Annex 1 list)
- Prior degree:
- At least a Master's degree or equivalent in a field relevant to the proposed research
- Age:
- No more than 40 years old at the time of application
Must have obtained acceptance from an academic supervisor at a Japanese university or research institution; sufficient language proficiency for the host institution; application nominated through the National Commission for UNESCO of the home country. Fellowship duration: no less than 3 and no more than 9 months. Cycle 2026 priority research themes: heritage conservation and management; AI for sustainable management of natural resources and climate action; ethical, inclusive and human-centred AI; AI for sustainable cities, infrastructure and societal resilience; AI and education.
